A number of bugs have been fixed as of this morning. Below is a list of issues we managed to patch:
1) Some users were seeing an error page in their “About You” section, specifically after uploading a resume. You shouldn’t be seeing those anymore.
2) As a side-effect of the first bug, those who uploaded a resume were getting the same error page in the about section of their showcase. That won’t happen anymore either.
3) A couple of users had watermarks not showing up on their images, now they will.
4) When receiving mail from your agency listing contact form, the “reply-to” header will now have the sender’s email address.

The ability to upload your own resume instead of recreating one is in place. In the same area as before you’ll see the Add/Edit Resume button. Once you click that you’ll select whether you’d like to use our wizard or upload your own. Click upload your own, add your resume, click upload, and rejoice.
They still need to be PDF files. We don’t tolerate other formats because… well… no.

Lately we’ve been getting a lot of requests for the ability to watermark your images. I’ve always thought, “hey, if you want your images watermarked, why not do it before uploading them?” It turns out, get this, people tend to like things done for them! Who knew?
We added a nifty little tool that lets you upload a watermark image (I personally suggest you go with a 24-bit transparent PNG for best results) to keep on file and add to images as you upload them. With the new multi-upload tool, you can pretty much gather a big set of images for your project, attach them to the uploader, click the little “Add watermark?” option, and upload away.
All your images will be automagically watermarked. If you don’t upload a watermark image they’ll be watermarked with our logo. You don’t have to go very far to upload one; you can upload a watermark in the settings area or from the box that opens up when you select the “Add watermark?” checkbox when uploading.
Happy showcasing!

You asked, we listened. You can now upload multiple files rather than one at a time, up to 20 at a time.
What’s next? Well, a little robot is talking about accepting ZIP files full of images, so who knows…

We recently moved to a new server. This was done to increase site responsiveness and capabilities. In doing so, we’ve also switched operating systems (Solaris to Linux), so we’ll be rolling out updates often to ensure everything works as it should. We haven’t found any problems yet, but computers have an amazing ability of hiding their skeletons in hard-to-reach closets and then releasing them all at once.
Update: First problem found and corrected. Videos and audio weren’t being properly converted. Not only is this fixed, but more codecs have been added for a larger range of file types.

…slightly.
We changed the design slightly so that the black theme is truly black, and the white theme is truly white. We had a small gradient on both but decided (thanks to your feedback) to do away with it. The image border colors were also changed, and the “about the artist” page was modified as well.
For you premium members we’ll be rolling out the theme engine very, very soon. It’s going to be more mac-daddy than Kris Kross. Jump, jump.

In an effort to improve the site, we’re asking that anyone who uses the showcase embed script let us know where you’re using it so we can take a look at it. The more real-world usage we see the better we can fine-tune it to play nice with people’s various layouts, stylesheets, and settings.
You can leave a comment with the URL that’s using the script or drop an email, up to you. Actually, since not many people really read this blog (hi grandma and Googlebot!) on account of its relative newness and hush-hush-ness we’re going to ask the question within the site somehow.
In addition, if you have requests or suggestions for something you’d like to see added/removed to the embedded showcases, go ahead and ask. Don’t be shy.

We’ve added the ability to delete your account, as much as we hate seeing people leave we feel it’s important to let you go.

We’ve upgraded the video quality for uploaded videos. We realized the compression method we used was too lossy so we decided, what the heck, let’s make those videos look 100% like your originals.
It’s only megabytes, right?

We’ve been rolling out ninja updates since launching, and since many of you haven’t really had an outlet to discover them I thought I would take the time to point out the more important ones. Since launch in November, we’ve added the following to the application:
1) Audio projects. This goes out to those musicians out there who wish to show off their creations. We didn’t want to leave anyone out.
2) A demo. Even though registration is free, some people would rather just go ahead and try it out before registering. Understandable, I suppose, figuring out if the interface suits you is an important factor.
3) Flickr set importing. My personal favorite. When adding images to your project, just select the “Import a set from Flickr” option, enter your set’s URL, and we’ll magically gather up images from your set for you. Then you knock out any images you don’t want and click import. Easy.
4) External showcase embedding. So you’ve got your own web site/blog already and want a simple way to display your stuff there instead of on our site? Not a problem. In your home area there’s a new “Embed” button which will let you generate a script to place on your site. There are various styling options you can choose from to get the perfect look that’ll let you blend it nicely into your site’s theme.
5) Premium accounts. Premium accounts give you way more projects and files as well as advanced showcase options and the removal of the SHOWN’D logo (if you wish) at the bottom of your showcase. At just $5/month (paid annually) it’s a steal.
6) Agency directory. Fill out the required fields in the “About you” section to have your design agency appear in the listing. Prospective clients will be able to search through the listings to find your agency and, who knows, maybe offer you a gig.
We have various things in the works including a selection of themes you can use to display your showcase. Hopefully this will give users much more customization options.
